Cadillac’s plug-in hybrid-electric version of the luxury CT6, sporting a powerful 18.4 kWh battery to provide all-electric driving for most daily commutes, will be imported from China when it goes on sale in the U.S. later this year. GM explains its decision to build the plug-in version in China (and not at the plant in Detroit where the CT6 is also being built) is based on expected high sales in China (resulting from anticipated incentives from the Chinese government), coupled with high build-quality there, as well as a desire to avoid Chinese import tariffs.
